The longest running program on Koori Radio, The Tangata Whenua Show has been through many changes over the years. Percy has presented the program since 1994. In 2003 Mike joined the show as a music programmer/producer and together the Bigheeds developed the program into an entertaining and informative 2 hours of radio broadcasting. The rest as they say, is history.'Tangata Whenua', means 'people of the land' in the Maori language and the program gives respect to the indigenous of this land, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island peoples. Highlighting indigenous issues and culture, politics with satire, mixed with old skool hip-hop, funk/soul, reggae/dub, jazz and some world flavours.
Regular on-line guests include Jim George from Bondi Beach, Palm Island poet Maggie Walsh and Jeff Keung live from San Fransisco.
In addition, The Tangata Whenua Show brings you interviews, studio guests, live performances and some unexpected and often hilarious surprises, direct from the new studios in Redfern.
